In 2010, our founder, Frank Hijwel, who formerly owned and managed his own tyre and auto shop in Sydney, decided the world of automotive classifieds needed a shakeup.

It was when he was trying to sell his own car that he realised all the popular automotive classifieds websites were so expensive for the value received. Up to $135.00 to list a car for sale, in some cases! What were they doing to justify that cost? Especially considering they werent guaranteeing success.

To Frank, it was dead money.

The job websites were no better. There wasnt even one dedicated to automotive jobs. When Frank needed to employ mechanics for his small business, he had to advertise on the big generic job portals. His ads would instantly be buried by big budget recruitment firms advertising positions that didnt even exist.

And promoting the products and services of his tyre and auto shop? Forget it! The bulky paper-based classifieds of the past had been a lost cause for years and the major search engines were already a spammers paradise. Only the big brands floated to the top, and small businesses like Franks just couldnt compete.

This resulted in a lot more work for Franks potential new customers trying to find his products and services, and for mechanics to find his job ads.

So he dreamed up a better way. The Ozzy Car Deals way.
